Lecture: What Counts as Art Today?
Xu Bing will give the 2018-2019 Kim and Judy Davis Dean’s Lecture in the Arts at Radcliffe’s Knafel Center, Harvard University on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 4:15pm. Entitled “Dragonfly Eyes: What Counts as Art Today”, the presentation is going to center on Xu Bing’s new work, Dragonfly Eyes (2017). The artist will also join in conversation with Harvard professors Eugene Want RI’17, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Professor of Asian Art, and Jennifer L. Roberts, Johnson-Kulukundis Family Faculty Director of the Arts at the Radcliffe Institute and Elizabeth Cary Agassiz Professor of the Humanities. The discussion will explore diverse range of Xu’s art as well as its impact on the contemporary art scene.
Before the lecture, the Harvard Film Archive will present Dragonfly Eyes (2017) on Monday, October 16, 2018 at 7pm. There will be a Q&A session with Xu Bing after the screening.
